Phosworks won the assignment as a digital partner to Tyréns, and its affiliates in the UK, the Baltics and the other Nordic countries after a tough competition with other agencies. One of the main cornerstones of this collaboration is Phosworks ‘advanced competence within Umbraco, as well as Phosworks’ extensive role as a communications agency where Tyréns also purchases films and uses the expertise of our Google certified team. In 2018, Tyréns decided that they wanted to redesign their web from scratch. The goal was to create a design that reflects Tyrén’s core values and areas of expertise. They also wanted to move from the classic template-based page types to a more flexible and component-based design system.
The goal of the project was to create a stylish and inspiring web that reflects Tyrén’s strong design expertise. They also wanted to move from the classic template-based page types to a more flexible and component-based design system. At the same time they wanted to introduce a new filtering and tagging system for their projects and be able to build independent product sites in a simple way.
The process of developing a design that matches the company’s core values and at the same time pushing the boundaries was exciting. We wanted to move their position and feeling through a strong and flexible design. To achieve this, wireframes and mood boards were first created. Subsequently, work began on developing designs for the most important page types, such as start page, project page, news page and service page. Once all design was approved, we created a component-based design system and started the development.
The development of a component-based design system was made by Phosworks front end and backend developers. In collaboration with our designers, they also developed animations for each component in order to create a dynamic feeling. We also produced an interactive map that is linked to Tyrén’s contact database and where the visitor can visit all offices. Performance is always important so the web was of course optimized according to best practice
In this project we didn’t just want to create a nice shell. We also wanted to make a good and flexible CMS for all editors. To reach the goal, ready-made templates were made for the most common page types but also the possibility of creating pages with optional components.
Editors can easily sort the order and adjust the appearance of each component to create varying pages. We also spent time creating a visual and clear administrator interface where the design on the page is reflected in the CMS.
In order for the editors not to work day and night, we migrated large parts of the web and added the new design to old pages. In this way, they could create completely new and component-based pages for the most important parts and make a step-by-step transition to all the new ones.
The end result
These are some of all comments that came after the launch from employees across the organisation:
“Awesome stylish web !!! Good work!”
“Which lift with new design on the web! Nice and vibrant! ”
“Congratulations and great work – which lift!”
“So cool website! Much better than before, and super cool! ”
So the Tyréns team at Phosworks and the customer are very satisfied – both over the result and the cooperation throughout the project.
